The key behind a comfortable and protecting air filter mask lies in all the details that together form the whole final mask. The Airinum Urban Air Mask 2.0 is built around 3 foundations – protection, comfort, and design.
TESTED AND CERTIFIED FILTER TECHNOLOGY
The mask filter is essential to the protection. When you breathe through the Urban Air Mask 2.0, air passes through five important layers of filter media before it reaches your lungs. Each air filter media layer has different properties to filter particles of different sizes.
- Outside PP layer: Outside filter wrapping in a durable finish
Active Carbon Layer: Reduces gases and odors.
1st Electro Charged Layer: Filters larger pm10 pollution, pollen and other allergens
2nd Electro Charged Layer: Filters smaller pm2.5 pollution, dust and bacteria
Inside PP Layer: Inside filter with ultra-smooth and skin-friendly finish
The multi-layer filter technology is tested at the RISE R&D center in Sweden showing a 98% protection rate against particles down to the size of 0.3μm and 99.99% against pm2.5 pollution. The Urban Air Mask 2.0 is also tested and certified for international pollution mask standards, similar to the N95 mask and N95 respirator standards.
DESIGN AVAILABLE IN 4 SIZES
All people are unique and so are their facial shapes and size. Differences are for example dependent on age, gender, ethnic backgrounds, and weight. The Urban Air Mask 2.0 is therefore available in 4 sizes to fit as many people as possible.
The sizing system has been developed using key anthropometric measurements of the human head as well as through testing sessions with large distributions of people with unique facial shapes. SECURE SEALING AND ANTI-FOG SYSTEM
To ensure full protection when using a breathing mask, the sealing on the face is key. Studies show that leakage commonly occurs in the nasal area when using a pollution mask.
The Urban Air Mask 2.0 is thereby especially designed with a 3D memory nose-foam and an adjustable nose clip. These features minimize air leakage on the nasal area, regardless of one’s facial shape. The 3D-memory nose-foam is also important as an anti-fogging system, enabling the mask to be used when wearing glasses.
DUAL EXHALATION VALVE VENTILATION SYSTEM
The Urban Air Mask 2.0 is designed with two exhalation valves acting as a ventilation system, making the air pollution mask comfortable to wear. When exhaling, the two valves allow warm, moist and carbon dioxide filled air to be ventilated out of the space between the face and the mask. This would otherwise build up inside the face mask, causing discomfort. When inhaling, the valves are blocked, making sure all inhaled air travels through the mask filter.
The Airinum exhalation valves are specially designed to not spread exhaled air horizontally outwards, like when you are normally exhaling. The valve cap pushes the exhaled air to the sides of the valves. This reduces the spread of exhaled air. This is a similar logic to a surgical mask that doctors or dentists wear, which do not completely seal but direct the airflow away from the patient.
EXHALATION VALVE STOPPERS TO DISABLE THE VENTILATION FUNCTION
The Exhalation Valve Stoppers are optional to use and can replace the Valve Caps on the Urban Air Mask 2.0. The Exhalation Valve Stoppers should be used when you want to plug the ventilation function of the mask.
The Exhalation Valve Stoppers have been tested at RISE R&D Center in Sweden with evidence showing that it will block 99% of the exhaled air, diminishing the risk of respiratory droplets escaping into the ambient air. Please find more information and test results here.
The Exhalation Valve Stoppers are attached to the valves in the same manner as the Valve Caps. The difference between the two is:
(1) The Exhalation Valve Stoppers have an additional ring inside which closes the blue silicone disc on the valve and thereby disables the ventilation function.
(2) The print on the outside of the Exhalation Valve Stopper indicates that the valve function has been disabled.
ADJUSTABLE EARLOOPS FOR PERSONAL FIT
To offer a personal and comfortable fit the Urban Air Mask 2.0 is designed with adjustable earloops. The skin-friendly and elastic material of the earloops together with the easily adjustable length allows the user to create a tight sealing, without the need of putting too much pressure on the ears.
Because all people have unique facial shapes, a 4 sizing system will not fit all people perfectly, but with the adjustable functions, the Urban Air Mask 2.0 can be adjusted to a personal fit for everyone.

ADJUSTABLE HEAD-STRAP FOR ULTIMATE SEALING
The Urban Air Mask 2.0 is provided with a separate head-strap that can be attached to the earloops and worn behind the head. The head-strap is adjustable and is used to create an ultimate sealing between the face and the mask. The head-strap can be used to relieve some pressure off the ears caused by having the earloops tight.
The head-strap does also allow the Urban Air Mask 2.0 to hang around the neck when not in use, enabling you to fast and easily take the mask on and off. Click here to see customers using the mask in our lookbook.

LONG LASTING AND REPLACEABLE FILTERS
The Urban Air Mask 2.0 package comes with 2x Urban Air Filter 2.0. One Urban Air Filter 2.0 lasts for about 100 hours of usage, dependent on the pollution levels when used. If the levels of pollution are high, the filter will faster clog up with particles and need to be replaced. Wearing the same filter during a long time can also become unhygienic, as it is worn over the mouth and nose, thereby we recommend changing the filter every second week. The mask skin, valves and head-strap do not need to be replaced, as they are washable. You can read more about this below.
The filters are easy to replace by removing it from the valves and the mask skin and inserting a new filter. For a full description of how to replace the mask filter, click here.
ANTIBACTERIAL AND WASHABLE MASK SKIN
In our opinion, design does not need to compromise functionality. Our masks are therefore designed to last. Every mask skin is washable and reusable to make it stay an everyday lifestyle accessory just as long as any other item in your wardrobe. The mask skin of the Urban Air Mask 2.0 is also treated with Polygiene® , a textile treatment that stops the growth of odor-causing bacteria.
