Vitabrid C12 - a brand that gave vitamin C unprecedented strength

The year was 2013, when the subsidiary of the famous Hyundai Group Hyundai IBT decided to enter the medical world and launched a pharmaceutical company.

The key goals of the innovative biotechnology company are to develop innovative cancer treatment solutions, to better biotechnology in medicine, resulting in bettering peoples health, raising their quality of life and prolonging their life.

To accomplish that the company started to develop particles that could transport the cancer treatment in oncology patients straight to the diseased cells while saving healthy body cells from the debilitating effects of the drug.

The developed DDS (Drug Delivery System) technology, in which encapsulated carrier particles deliver the cancer drug directly to the target or tumor through the blood vessels, has yielded significant results in the treatment of cancer. This has made it possible to achieve a more effective treatment with less chemotherapy. As a result of the technology, patients experience significantly fewer side effects during treatment due to the toxicity of the drug, and the effect is more permanent with the gradual release of the drug.

The results of the research have gained worldwide attention and have been featured in many scientific journals, including Nature, Angewandte Chemie, C&EN and Scientific Reports.

From medicine to the world of cosmetics

Seeing the results achieved in cancer treatment, Hyundai IBT researchers soon realized that the medical discoveries based on biotechnology could be successfully applied in skin care.

Behind the revolutionary technology is the Korean chemistry professor Jin-ho Choi and her team, and their reserarch of more than a decade at Seoul Ewha Women’s University.

One of Jin-ho Choi’s long-term research interests had been vitamin C. Vitamin C seems to be such a common part of our daily diet that it’s hard to sürpriise with it. However, the beneficial properties of vitamin C cannot be overstated. We need to supply ourselves with vitamin C, because the body cannot synthesize it itself.

We know that as an effective antioxidant, vitamin C helps us to better resist diseases and support immunity during the cold season. Thanks to vitamin C, wounds heal better and the skin, blood vessels, teeth, bones and connective tissue can function normally.

When we think of vitamin C, the thought goes straight to juicy citrus and reddish strawberries. Black currants and sea buckthorn berries run before the eyes as domestic vitamin bombs. Also, not to forget the yellow grains by threes that melted from sweet to sour under the tongue.

However, what we often do not know or remember is that the irreplaceable vitamin C has one major weakness: it is easily broken down by temperature, light and oxygen. If we boil berries and vegetables in hot water or squeeze fresh juice and let it stand, then figuratively much of this valuable vitamin evaporates.

Therefore, it is crucial to eat vitamin C-rich foods fresh and unprocessed to supply the body with this necessary vitamin.
But once the vital organs have recovered their amount, how much of it remains for the skin and hair?

Studies performed by Hyundai Bioscience showed that only 1% of the absorbed amount reaches the skin. However, our skin needs it for several reasons. Why?

Vitamin C in in the service of beauty

To put in two words, vitamin C has a rejuvenating ability. How does this manifest itself?

Vitamin C

  • protects the skin from the damaging effects of ultraviolet rays.
  • promotes the production of collagen, which helps to keep the skin elastic, healthy and smooth and constantly renewed.
  • fights free radicals that cause premature aging.

Regular external use of vitamin C improves the complexion, eliminates age-related pigment spots, makes the skin radiant and stronger. Studies show that women 40 years of age and older who get enough vitamin C and linoleic acid have a lower chance of developing deep wrinkles and skin atrophy.

How Does Vitamin C Work?

Normal vitamin C is water soluble and therefore does not have the strenght to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin. This, however, is necessary to affect the collagen and elastin fibers in the deeper layer of the skin, the dermis, on which the strength and elasticity of the skin depend. To reach dermis, the cosmetics industry often uses vitamin C derivatives, one of the most popular of which is the fat-soluble form of vitamin C, tetrahexyl decyl ascorbate, which indeed successfully penetrates into the deeper layers of the skin. Unfortunately, the change in form has led to the tarde-off of one of the important properties of vitamin C – as a result of which the antioxidant abilities are reduced.

Hyundai Bioscience, led by a team of Jin-ho Choi scientists, decided to take a different path. They did not change the vitamin formula, but created a hybrid of vitamin C and zinc. Why did zinc come into play? This mineral is able to maintain and stabilize the unique properties of vitamin C, without which vitamin C would simply be oxidized when applied to the skin.

To  simplify, high-quality vitamin C produced in the United Kingdom was packaged in a zinc oxide coating. As a result of this packaging, the unique properties of vitamin C are preserved on the way to the deeper layers of the skin and can have a gradual effect. This is how the biotechnological substance Vitabrid C12 was born, which transports vitamin C from the surface layer of the skin directly to the deeper layers to affect collagen production there.

This unique hybrid technology allows the unique effect of vitamin C to be maintained even in contact with air, light and heat. The innovative technology was named Vitabrid CG and is patented in the USA, the European Union and Japan.

Advantages of Vitabrid C12 compared to regular vitamin C.

Vitabrid CG technology can affect the skin’s metabolism and immune system by reaching the deeper layers of the skin.

The usual vitamin C preserves for a few months, but the advantage of the new form is a long shelf life – three years.

Vitamin C gradually exits the zinc capsule on its journey, reaching the maximum concentration after 12 hours and then continues to act.

Normal vitamin C (ascorbic acid) cannot be used on irritated or sensitive skin, but Vitabrid C12 can cope well with these skin problems. Because the stable vitamin C hybrid slowly exits its shell, it does not damage the skin, even when applied directly to the wound.

The strong anti-inflammatory effect of the new vitamin form helps to significantly alleviate even the symptoms of atopic dermatitis and psoriasis.

In cosmetology, Vitabrid C12 can be successfully used to restore the skin after exfoliations, laser procedures, plastic surgeries and beauty injections.

Hybrid vitamin C is packaged in powder form, which makes it particularly easy to use. It can be used to enrich your existing favorite cream or serum. Just mix a pinch of the vitamin powder into your cream in the palm of your hand.

Because Vitabrid C12 contains zinc, it can also reduce the harmful effects of UV radiation on the skin. In addition, vitamin C reduces hyperpigmentation after tanning. To protect your skin even more effectively from UV rays, Vitabrid C12 can be used with sunscreen.

Vitamin C gives hair strength

In addition to facial and body care, Vitabrid C12 cosmetics have achieved significant results in the treatment of hair loss (alopecia). Vitabrid C12 is a perfect example of how vitamin C can help cope with increased hair loss and baldness. The key here is again collagen, the production of which is stimulated by vitamin C.

In 2016, the scientific journal Science published an article on the results of a study by Japanese researchers, which proved the effect of type 17A1 collagen on hair growth. The study explained that the stem cells next to the hair follicle do not initially know who they will become – whether they will go to the hair follicle or become normal skin cells. This selection is affected by type 17A1 collagen and, if there is enough of it, the hair will grow normally.

The most effective medicine for alopecia is considered to be the hormone drug minoxidil, which does have a fairly rapid effect, but it has side effects and may not benefit the body as a whole if it enters the bloodstream.

Vitabrid C12 has a slower hair growth promoting effect, but it is completely safe. To affect hair growth Vitabrid C12 should be used for at least three months.

Tests have shown that for about 80% of users Vitabrid C12 has helped prevent hair loss or they have noticed that their hair is getting thicker. Nine out of ten users found a solution to their dandruff problem with the products.

Hair loss is a systemic disease with a variety of causes, and thus another big plus of vitamin C comes to the fore: when it enters the bloodstream, it stimulates the immune system and thus helps to solve the hair problem.

Award-winning solution

Vitabrid C12 products have also achieved effective results in the treatment of acne. In most cases, acne medicines peel off the top layer of the skin and then kill the bacteria that cause acne.

By applying Vitabrid C12 Spot powder with the essence to the skin, zinc first disinfects the skin and then vitamin C takes over the work, which deeply cleanses the skin, prevents the growth of bacteria and normalizes the water and oil balance. In addition, vitamin C helps to remove comedones and fights the pigmentation caused by acne. When it reaches the deep dermis, vitamin C also activates the immune system, which means that the skin recovers faster.

Vitabrid C12 products reached the market in 2014 and since then they are gaining more and more popularity all over the world.

Vitabrid C12 absolute hit product is the stabilized vitamin C powder, which is the basis of all products in the series. In Europe, Vitabrid C12 powder for face is sold at a concentration of 25%. In Asia and the USA, there is also a powder that can be added to body products with a vitamin C content of 36.1%.

Due to their effective effect, the products have won a number of prizes from prestigious competitions, among others, the Vitabrid C12 has won the highest, Grand Gold quality mark of the international Monde Selection competition.

Vitabrid C12 is firmly committed to quality, raw material purity and a healthy life. Let Vitabrid C12 take care of your health and beauty!
